Why are movies so popular?
Lubbock’s Century Cinema is the latest to join the list of theaters that have been dubbed the premiere cinema in the country, as it opened the season last month.
The theater is a joint venture between the University of Lubbocks Lubbocker College of Business and Lubboon City Council.
The Cinema is known for its wide selection of classic films, such as “Dumb and Dumber,” “Sister Act,” “The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension,” and “Lone Ranger.”
The theater’s lineup is also a nod to the city’s history as a pioneer in cinema.
The first movie theater in the city was built in 1874.
