Regal’s Cinema and Theme Parks in the United States and Canada will close their doors this summer.
The chain will close for a number of reasons including the recession, the opening of new restaurants and the loss of many of its marquee franchises.
Regal announced on Thursday that it was closing its doors at the end of the year.
The closure means that most of its entertainment businesses will be shuttered.
Regal is a major company in the entertainment industry.
The company operates multiple theme parks in Canada, United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore and Hong Kong.
Regals biggest franchise in the U.S., the Grand Canyon, will close in June 2019.
Regas Entertainment Group, the company that owns Regal, is expected to announce that it is exiting the U, U.K., Australia, and the European Union.
Regall Entertainment Group and Regal Entertainment Group will be merged, according to a regulatory filing from the Federal Trade Commission.
Regalta’s parent company, Regal Brands Inc., is owned by PepsiCo Inc., the beverage company’s biggest investor.
PepsiCo owns Regals parent company Regal and its subsidiary Regal Group.
Rega Brands Inc. owns Regaltas parent company and subsidiary Regaltaworld, which operates Regal World in Canada.
The news comes a few days after Regal announced it had a $1.2 billion debt facility with the government of India.

Regals new theme parks, Regaltar and Regaltara, will reopen in the next few months.
The company has also closed many of the country’s most popular theme parks.
Regala, which is located in the Netherlands, closed in February 2018.
Regalo, which opened in Mexico in 2020, was one of the company’s most successful rides, with more than 20 million guests annually.
Regalfare, which closed in Ireland in March 2018, was also one of Regals most popular rides.
Regalist has shuttered its iconic Hollywood, California, Regala and Regalo theme parks and will reopen at a later date.
In addition to the U to Australia, Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong and Dubai, Regals new U.N. headquarters will be in the UK.
Regaly will also be in Dubai.
Regarals new United Nations headquarters is in New York.
Ralston also noted that the company will close down some of its theme parks that have long been in the works in order to focus more on its entertainment properties.
